Avoir une faim de loup - in a garden ...

Is it an illusion, or the shepherd is eating his one sheep ???
The wolf can't understand but I can explain ! In french there is an idiom saying "Avoir une faim de loup", meaning "To be very hungry", but if you translate it word after word, it would be "To be as hungry as a wolf". And today, the shepherd is very very hungry !
